DECATUR – A key triple, two runs scored and a solid four innings from starting pitcher Noah Schamerloh were more than enough to beat the Bellmont Braves on Monday as the Norwell Knights cruised to a 10-2 victory to capture the 21st sectional trophy in school history.

Schamerloh, pitching with a chip on his shoulder in the game, threw four innings as the Norwell starter, leaving the game after four innings thrown with his team leading 9-2. The senior struck out five and allowed four hits.

Both runs allowed for Schamerloh came on a home run in the fourth by Oliver Werling that landed on Monroe Street. It was the fourth home run of the sectional for the Braves and the second for Werling.

Cayden Cassel gave Norwell a lead that they would not lose with a two-run double in the third and then stole home on a delayed double steal to put the Knights up 3-0.

After Werling’s homer made it 3-2, the Knights batted around in the fourth. Schamerloh’s triple drove in Will Case and the hit parade was on, with the Knights grabbing extra bases at will. Norwell finished the night with six stolen bases.

With six runs in the top of the fifth, Norwell handed the ball over to Dylan Chism the rest of the way and he retired nine of the ten batters he faced, issuing just a walk in his three innings of work.
The Bellmont Braves were held to just four hits overall.

Beau Baker recorded one out in the fifth and was charged with eight runs. He struck out six in his farewell game at Bellmont.

Layne LeMaster gave up a run in the fifth and another in the seventh in two innings of work, giving way to Matt Bleeke, who got the only two batters he faced.

Bellmont ended the season with an 11-13 record.
Norwell will play Delta at 3 p.m. at Oak Hill for a regional title. That game can be heard Saturday on WZBD.
