It was a straight-sets sweep by the Concordia Cadets Tuesday night as the visitors from the north came down to Decatur and methodically dispatched the Bellmont Braves in a battle of long-time rivals.
Concordia won the first set 25-23 and then squeezed the life out of the Braves from there, sending Bellmont to their third successive defeat, 25-23, 25-20, 25-14.
The loss leveled the Bellmont season record to 3-3 with a showdown at South Adams coming Thursday. That intracounty matchup will be broadcast live on WZBD, 92.7 FM.
Senior Taylor Sutter led the Braves with seven kills. She also had seven digs and three aces in the match.
Belle Gumbel finished six of 13 on her kill attempts, while Averie Coats led the team with nine digs.
The most recent ratings from the IHSVCA have Concordia as the #16 team in the state in 3A, while Bellmont was at #18.
