MaryKate Scheumann did her best Eddie Feigner impression Tuesday night in beating Marion 19-0 with a no-hitter and a home run as the Bellmont Braves to the semifinals of the 3A Oak Hill Sectional.
Scheumann may not have even needed the full Feigner “court” Tuesday, as catcher Ella Franze and Liz Bobay may have sufficed on a night when just three balls were hit in play by the Giants, who had forfeited to Bellmont in each of the past two seasons in the postseason.
The Braves’ starting pitcher fielded two of those three balls and struck out 11 of the 16 batters she faced, overpowering the Giants and missing a perfect game by one walk to the leadoff hitter for Marion in the bottom of the first.
Taylor Bauer also homered for Bellmont, driving in three runs and scoring three times.
Sami Christen had a double and a single and scored three times.
Bellmont will take on Maconaquah in Wednesday’s semifinal. That game can be heard on WZBD, 92.7 FM.
