Officials at South Adams and Bellmont are still working on a solution to where the Week 2 game between South Adams and Bellmont will be played as both schools are currently in the process of different projects of different sizes at their facilities.
Initially set to be played at South Adams, the game, which is set to be broadcast as the feature game of the week on WZBD, 92.7 FM, will not be played in Berne. Construction of the new artificial turf field at Harry F. Anderson Field will not be finished as a new drainage system has required much excavation work.

South Adams is set to join other ACAC schools Woodlan, Heritage and Bluffton in playing on an artificial surface this season.

While the logical choice would be to simply move the game to Bellmont, it does not seem likely. The two schools would be expected to swap the 2024 location in exchange for such an arrangement, leaving the Braves with a lopsided six home games this year and just three in 2024.
“The gate fees at football games are extremely important,” noted BHS AD Dale Manis. “It is important in a nine-game season to stay balanced.”
Officials from both schools have been exploring multiple options to relocate the game.

The game could be played at a nearby neutral site on an artificial turf. The field at Norwell is open in Week 2, but Heritage and Woodlan are both at home on that night.
An additional complication to the situation comes in the fact that the new press box, which is set to replace the original Worthman Stadium press box this year, is not yet completed. Construction officials are confident the upgrade will be complete before the season opener.
WZBD’s high school football coverage begins on August 18th when Heritage takes on Bellmont in Week 1. Follow all the teams in Z-Land all season long on WZBD.com.
