
The Adams County Commissioners have approved supporting a request for using federal funds to begin a faith-based substance abuse recovery program that will be housed on county property. Crossroads Substance Abuse Recovery Company wants to open a facility on county owned property near the Adams County Jail and wants to use federal COVID-19 recovery funds to build it. The Commissioners unanimously approved the plans and voted to support Crossroads’ request when it goes before the Adams County Council next week.

Under Crossroads’ plan, each person entering the program would be required to pay rent while in the program to help the county defray the cost of operating the program. The request for using federal ARPA funds must be approved by the County Council before the plans can move forward.
In other matters during the meeting, the installation of the new elevator at the Adams County Government Center is progressing on schedule and could be in operation next week, The building’s old elevator was removed last month and a new one has been installed in the same place inside the building. The new elevator must pass a final inspection early next week before the public can begin using it.
Motorists in Adams County can expect another detour beginning next Monday. The County Highway Department will begin construction work along County Road 200W between State Road 116 and County Road 950S starting June 12. Anyone needing to travel that road will be able to do so, but should expect delays from heavy equipment and fresh oil to navigate around until the project is completed.
