The heat made little difference to the local volleyball schedule as all four teams in Z-Land were active against very good teams Tuesday. South Adams and Bellmont both triumphed ahead of their match on Thursday (broadcast live on WZBD), while Heritage was downed by undefeated Carroll and Parkway exacted revenge on the Flying Jets in Monroe.

Parkway 3 Adams Central 1 (25-16, 25-13, 23-25, 25-22)
Parkway lost an absolute heartbreaker to South Adams on Monday night and completed their tour of Adams County with a trip to the Hangar, where they won the first two sets to build a big enough lead to hold off the home team.

Carroll (FW) 3 Heritage 0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-13)
Heritage went to Huntertown with a 4-1 record after winning three straight matches Saturday, but the Chargers showed just how good they are in an easy victory in non-conference play.

Bellmont 3 Concordia Lutheran 1 (25-17, 26-24, 25-21, 25-21)
One of the great long-term rivalries in local volleyball is the annual showdown between the Braves and Cadets. This week’s match was an odd matchup because the two teams are set to play each other again Saturday at Yorktown.
The Braves were once again without Lilly Selking, but Liz Bobay had one of her best nights of the season and finished with 33 assists, mostly from feeding MK Scheumann, who ended the night with a game-high 20 kills.
Alyssa Gumbel had eight kills and nine digs, but was killer at the net with four solo blocks.
The Braves overall had a good night, with Brea Shoaf showing some versatility with six kills and three blocks.
Coach Craig Krull’s team is now 2-3 in 2024.
Next up for Bellmont will be the big matchup with South Adams at the StarDome on Thursday.
South Adams 3 Eastbrook 0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-7)
After an incredible test of endurance Monday against a very good Parkway team, the Stars had no problems dispatching the Eastbrook Panthers in straight sets and moving to 11-0 on the year.
Reagan Bollenbacher led the team in kills with eight and also added five digs.
Reagan Beitler had four aces in the winning effort.
