Monroe Central hosted Adams Central for a pair of ballgames Saturday and the Jets’ batters overcame 11 runs by the hosts in both games to earn a Saturday split.
The morning game got off to a poor start for starter Carson Ross. He allowed three in the first and seven more in the second before being replaced by Jacob Miller, who held the Bears to just one run the rest of the way. The Jets, however, were playing from behind the rest of the game.

Jamison Roach knocked in Reece Hammond, who doubled to lead off the fourth, to start a rally, then took third on a groundout. He showed his athleticism by surviving a run down and scoring to cut the MC lead to 10-4, all while allowing Max Byerly to advance to third in the process.

Joey Everett knocked in Byerly with a sacrifice fly, but the Jets never got any closer in Game 1.
In Game 2 the Jets got a much better start, putting three spots on the board in the first and again in the second with Roach on the mound.
Roach, however, also ran intro trouble against the volatile MC lineup and was not helped by his defense. The Bears put seven runs on the board in the bottom of the third with just one hit, taking advantage of five Adams Central errors.

Adams Central bounced right back and re-gained the lead at 9-8 in the fourth with a two-run triple from Roach, who scored on a groundout on the next pitch.
Barrett Collier took over for AC in the bottom of the fourth and took a while to settle in, but he got out of a jam with a big strikeout and the game tied.
The Jets scored three more times in the sixth, thanks to a big hit by Cade Van De Weg, and Collier saw out the game on the mound, finishing his outing with three strikeouts over four inning and the W.
The split left AC 5-6 on the year with upcoming ACAC games against Woodlan Tuesday and at Jay County Thursday.
