The Adams County Commissioners have given their approval to Sheriff Dan Mawhorr in seeking a new lease for tasers that are used by deputies in his department. Under the agreement, the Adams County Sheriff’s Department will get 26 tasers to be used as a non-lethal way of containing a suspect in a heated incident. The 5-year agreement with the Arizona company that makes tasers will cost just under $118,000 over the five years.
The Commissioners also gave their blessing to finalizing a contract with the firm that will draw up the county’s next comprehensive vision program that will guide Adams County’s economic development efforts for the next several years. American Construction Point will guide county leaders in developing the comprehensive vision plan at a cost of $174,500, but the county will use funds from the American Recovery Program to pay for it. Though the Commissioners have approved the plan, it must still be approved by the Adams County Council.
