It was a 44-stroke victory for the DeKalb Barons Saturday at the NE8 golf meet at Cross Creek, as Grace Pfister took medalist with a par round of 71, leading the team that took five of the top seven spots.
Teammate Paige Williams was second with a 73, while East Noble’s Lily Oburn was third with a 75.

Bellmont’s Kinley Martin was the only Brave to make the all-conference lists. Her round of 92 was good enough for Honorable Mention status in her senior season.

Pfister overcame two bogies on the front nine to shoot a one-under 34. Most impressive were her back-to-back birdies on No. 8 and No. 9. Pfister and teammate Jaden Tompkins were the only two players in the event to make birdie on No. 8. Tompkins also birdied the ninth hole.
In a testament of just how difficult the eighth hole is, only four players even managed a par on the long par five.

Martin (shown below) shot a 49 on the front, but was much better on the back. Her birdie on No. 17 allowed her to make the top 15. Both nine-hole scores and her 18-hole score were the best of the year for the senior.

Morgan Huss had her best round on the front nine this year with a 49. She shot an even 100 for the day.

Lyla Post’s 45 on the Front Nine was her best of the year and it allowed her to set a new career 18-hole mark of 98.

Mia Minnick tied her best 18-hole score of the year with her 98.

The Braves missed out on third place by just one stroke.
