The battle for the ACAC title took a turn Tuesday night as the Jay County Patriots swept past the #11 South Adams Starfires, who entered the match 19-2, in straight sets.
The Patriots’ victory (25-20, 25-23, 25-20) opens the door for #9 Adams Central to control their own destiny when it comes to the regular season standings. The Jets beat Jay County in five sets last week and are currently 3-0 in the conference.
South Adams will host Adams Central next Thursday (Oct. 3rd) in a match set to be broadcast on WZBD, 92.7 FM.
Avery Brown led the Starfires with seven kills in the loss.
Meanwhile, Bellmont remained unbeaten in the NE8 with a convincing victory up at East Noble, winning 25-11, 25-21, 25-19 to move to 2-0 in the conference.
Alyssa Gumbel led the team with 15, while MaryKate Scheumann had 13 for the #15 (4A) Braves.
Volleyball fans can hear Bellmont’s match Thursday on WZBD when the Braves travel to Leo.
