Looking for a project for your organization, school group or business?
How about adopting one of Decatur’s parks for a day – a special day, Earth Day?
The Decatur park board says it is seeking partnerships with local businesses or schools “to prepare our parks for the enjoyment of our community.”

Duties will include cleaning up trash, leaves and branches.
A total of 11 city parks will be up for a cleanup on Wednesday, April 22, when Earth Day observances are annually held around the world, the park board says.
If interested, call Riverside Center, 724-2520.
FIRST TIME: Earth Day was first celebrated in the U.S. In 1970, demonstrating support for environmental protection.
It was founded by American politician and conservationist Gaylord Anton Nelson and quickly grew into an international event.
Earth Day is held annually on April 22.
This year’s theme is Our Power, Our Planet.
The event calls on communities worldwide to take action during Earth Week to support clean air, clean water, clean energy, protected natural resources, and climate stability.
