Ava Stafford scored 19 points to help the Adams Central Jets clinch a guaranteed winning record in 2025-26 by beating Blackhawk Christian Thursday night, 44-36.

After missing out on a chance at a win Wednesday night because of the weather (game against Marion), the Jets had to prepare for next week’s sectional with a home matchup against the 15-7 Braves, who have been very successful in the postseason in the last decade.

The Jets led 10-7 after the first quarter, then held the visitors to just three points in the second quarter, building a six-point lead at the break, with Stafford and Demi Landis both knocking down threes.

Adams Central protected a lead in the second half via the free throw line, where they ended up 12 of 20 for the night.
The Jets were never outscored in a quarter and coach Hildebrand’s team had seven different girls reach the scoring column.

The team gained a favorable draw on Sunday for the sectional. They are the only team with a winning record on the top half of the bracket. They’ll play the winner of South Adams and Bishop Luers on Friday night. Both of those games will be heard live on 92.7 FM, WZBD.

Adams Central Scoring: Stafford 19, Landis 8, Fisher 7, Hendricks 4, Ringger 2, Isch 2
Blackhawk Christian Scoring: Pope 12, Sutton 10, Pickett 7, Davis 7
