The IHSAA announced this week that both Bellmont and South Adams will host girls volleyball sectionals this October, while the Heritage Patriots will attempt to defend their sectional title at New Haven.
Bellmont’s long run of sectional titles came to an end in 2024 when the program was shifted up to 4A after reaching the State Finals in the three previous seasons. The Braves were knocked off by Homestead in the semifinals, 3-1. They’ll seek the start of a new streak in their second attempt at a 4A title on their home court.
The Braves will return to 3A in 2026 unless they can win their sectional and advance to the 4A State Finals this fall.
In 2A, South Adams will look to return to the top of their sectional at home, hosting the same seven-team field that played at Woodlan last year. The Starfires have not won a sectional title since 2022. They fell to Woodlan in five sets in the final a year ago.
The Heritage Patriots were a surprise sectional winner last year, advancing to regional with a 3-2 victory in the sectional championship match over host Norwell. The 2025 sectional will be hosted by New Haven and feature the same five teams as last year (with Bellmont still out of the field and in 4A).
