The Bellmont Braves took care of business against a struggling Angola team Tuesday night, dominating the Hornets in a 70-22 win.
Angola, who recently lost their best player to injury last week, did not have a player with more than two buckets in the game as the Braves used their smothering defense and press to control the tempo and force turnovers.

Emily Bleke led the Braves in scoring with 26 points. She had an excellent night at the free throw line – going 10 for 11 to lead the team.
Ten different players reached the scoring column for the team, with Lanie French and Emma Fuelling each scoring eight to complement the senior Bleke. Both girls knocked down a couple of threes against the Hornets.

The Braves will wrap up their regular season against Leo Friday night when they hope to wrap up a perfect 7-0 NE8 season with a win over the Lions.
Other Local Scores
Jay County 57 Heritage 29
Danica Fuller knocked down a couple of shots early for Heritage as they hung with Jay County early, trailing just 13-10 after the first quarter.
The shots did not fall, however, in the second period and Jay County extended the lead to 23-14 at halftime and never looked back.

Fuller led the Heritage Patriots in scoring with ten points. Riley Roy had six points, while Addison Meyer had five. Audra Bickel and Audrey Meyer each had four points.
Hallie Schwieterman led Jay County with 17 points.
South Adams 54 FW Canterbury 42
The Starfires broke an 11-game losing streak with a convincing win over Canterbury Tuesday night, picking up 14 points from Kenley Geels.
“It felt good to pick up a win,” said head coach Brett Freeman after Tuesday’s victory. “We’ve been fighting our butts off the whole way, but have not been able to find a win in that stretch.”
Lucy Schwartz added 12 points for the victors and Bekah Patterson had ten.
The win was even more impressive considering the Stars were missing their two leading scorers.
“Our girls still found a way,” said Freeman. “Our defensive effort was really strong. We did a nice job of getting after them.”

The Stars held Canterbury to just six points in the opening quarter – setting the tone for the rest of the game.
“They were able to knock down some wild shots later in the game that changed the margin of victory, but we made them work for every possession.”
It was a great way for the Stars to perform on Senior Night.
“Always a great way to see off your seniors,” said Freeman. “Bekah played a heck of a game on both ends. I am really proud of her stepping up tonight.”
Freeman hopes to have everyone healthy and back in time for sectional, where the Stars will play the winner of Whitko and Woodlan in the first Friday semifinal at next week’s 2A Bluffton Sectional.
