The Bellmont Braves’ win over Homestead in last year’s 4A sectional was a memorable one and a 4-11 Bellmont team nearly pulled off a similar surprise Tuesday night in the Teepee before falling in five.
The home Braves won the second and the third set, but could not maintain the momentum in the fourth. A fifth set was all Homestead as the Spartans pushed their record to 6-1 on the year.
Belle Gumbel led the Braves again in kills with 16. The junior was lethal in her 23 attempts.
Ashlyn Baumann had a nice night, as well, with nine kills.
Averie Coats led the Braves with 17 digs. Classmate Taylor Sutter made three aces.
Brea Shoaf and Kaylee Kolter had three solo blocks apiece.
