The South Adams Starfires entered Thursday’s ACAC contest without a varsity win going all the way back to Tax Day in mid-April. Heading into the sixth inning at Southern Wells, it appeared they were destined for another loss, trailing 6-4.
Jax Wanner and Kane Sturwold had other ideas, however, teaming up to knock off the Raiders with a late-game comeback and a 12-6 victory.

With two outs in the top of the sixth, the Stars started a rally, putting two runners on for Wanner. Jax tied the game at 6-6 with a double to center, scoring both runners.
South Adams kept on scoring, hitting the ball hard and forcing Southern Wells into defensive errors. They went into the bottom of the sixth with an 11-6 lead.

Kane Sturwold then entered the game at pitcher and pitched two perfect innings to end the Stars’ slump.
Derek Weaver was the starter for the Stars. He struck out seven and allowed six runs (three earned).
Wyatt Yoder was saddled with the L in relief.

Wanner ended the night 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and two knocked in.
The Stars will attempt to win a second game in a row Saturday at home against Churubusco before facing tough ACAC matchups Tuesday vs. Woodlan and Wednesday at Adams Central.
