Follow us at WZBD all day long for updates from Bellmont’s first day at the Goshen RedHawk Super Duals
Round 1: The Braves took a couple of shots from Munster with their very physical style, but it likely woke the team up and they went on a pinning spree midway through the dual, with everyone from Gabe Myers at 132 to Gavin Davis at 165 winning by fall.
A couple of positives also came out of the first dual, as the Braves are indeed at full strength with freshman Jacob Bleeke weighing in at 113 and Sam Wolpert seemingly healthy and in the lineup to start the morning.

Round 2: Wheeler opened with four forfeits, spotting the Braves 24 points as they set their eyes on the shutout. Austin Manley had the match of the morning, falling behind 10-1 before coming back to pin his opponent and teaching him a lesson on where the pinning zone is with a 3:11 fall.
Landon Sielschott (see below) made his varsity debut and fought off his back to survive the first period, then scored the fall for the comeback.
Landon Rich scored his first win of the year with a fall, also coming from behind, to win at 175.
The Braves will now switch gyms and head across the hall to wrestle Lakeland before returning to the main gym for Round 4.

Will Franze and Austin Manley each had excellent matches and gave the team a tech fall and a pin, respectively.

Bellmont won 10 of 14 matches, including an impressive set of tech falls by Jacob Bleeke, Will Franze and Jacob Binegar.
The team will now look to Eastside as their fifth opponent in hopes of finishing the first day unbeaten.

Round 5: The Eastside Blazers were indeed the challenge the Braves expected, jumping out to a 14-0 lead and trailing just 29-20 with five bouts remaining. Bellmont took four of those final five matches, however, and won comfortably, 53-26.
Of note was a barnburner of a match at 132, where Gabe Myers fell for the first time this season on a late takedown to Noah Dove, 10-8. Henry Faurote picked his teammate up with an absolute thrashing of Lane Snyder, a wrestler he beat last year 4-2. Faurote’s 15-0 tech fall came in just 1:53 and stunned the #10-ranked wrestler at 144 pounds.
Gavin Davis looked like he was going to have a great bout against Ethan Fike at 165, but Fike injured himself on a Davis takedown and was forced to default and be helped off the mat with an apparent knee injury.
