Tuesday’s difficult loss at Snider will need to be placed in the back of the mind of the Bellmont wrestlers this weekend as they prepare for ten duals in two days at the Goshen RedHawk Super Duals.
If the Braves wrestle much like they have the last few years at the Goshen event, they will head into an important week of the season next week with confidence.
If the team dwells on the Snider loss, they will find themselves with another, or even two or three defeats over the two-day event.
The lineup for the team is, without a doubt, stronger than last year’s slate of matches. The Braves will be heavy favorites in the first three duals of the day Friday, but the schedule will turn much leaner after that, beginning with a dual against Chesterton in Round 4.
WZBD will bring coverage of Round 5 when the team takes on the Eastside Blazers.
The team will then work on some team bonding after a difficult start to the season with a hotel stay before preparing to make weight again on Saturday morning – the Braves’ fourth weigh-in over an eight-day period.
Coach Tim Myers is likely to rotate some of his reserves into the lineup on Day two in the early rounds in order to preserve his best varsity lineup for the final two rounds, when the Braves wrestle LaPorte in Round 9 and host Goshen in Round 10. Both of those matches can be heard on WZBD’s YouTube channel.
The Braves are set to wrestle the entire weekend with just 13 boys, as they are unable to fill all 14 weight classes. That will leave Jacob Binegar to toggle back and forth between 106 and 113 when needed, with Ben Mills the new varsity man at 120 after a wrestle-off win.
