Just in time for Decatur’s Callithumpian Parade, Adams Street, between First and Third streets, will be reopened on Friday.
“We are coming to the end of the water main replacement portion of the project,” city Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert said in making the announcement.

He said that a small portion of the project needs to be completed and that will be done next week after the parade.
“That work will take place at the intersection of Third and Adams, only the closure will be minor and, depending on testing, should be completed by the end of next week,” Gilbert said.
Monday’s parade will, as in the past, disperse at the Five Points intersection.
According to a schedule, the Indiana Department of Public Transportation (INDOT), which is in charge of the project, will begin demolishing the former Sunoco gas station at the intersection the week before Thanksgiving.
That will also include removal of the former station’s fuel tank
The work to install a roundabout at the intersection is still on tap for next spring.
