Thursday’s match between Bluffton and Bellmont went well into a third hour of play in the No. 2 singles match, but the final result was never in doubt as the Tigers dominated the Braves, sweeping the other four matches and officially locking down the 5-0 sweep in the marathon singles match.

Layne LeMaster took the opening set for Bellmont against Jacob Ribich, but Ribich got a break of serve in the second set and won 6-4, forcing a third. Ribich had more gas in the tank when the match finally ended, winning the third at love.
“Layne finally met his match in terms of patience,” admitted Bellmont coach Kyle Arnold. “It’s tough to wear a kid like Layne down, so credit to him for playing that well for that long to beat Layne.”
