Three matches and three wins.
That’s the start of the season for the South Adams Tennis team as they’ve been forced to play away from home while their courts await a new paint job this week.
The Starfires were forced to travel to Muncie Central, but it didn’t stop them from beating the Bearcats 4-1 Thursday.
The match had a much different look for coach Brent Hyman, who tossed his top doubles team in at singles and made his singles guys team up to play doubles against a weaker opponent.
Senior Ian Neuenschwander took the spot at No. 1 for the day and opened up his match against Treysen Michelini with a 6-4 win, but the Bearcat ace defended his spot with two close victories in the remaining sets to earn the only victory for the home team.

Gabe Neuenschwander slotted in at No. 3 singles and won 6-2, 6-1 against Jamar Clark.
Cole Hyman and Kane Sturwold, meanwhile, played together on the doubles side of things and won easily.
The Starfires will play in the South Side invitational, which is being held at multiple Fort Wayne sites Saturday.
