Adams County government leaders have been receiving numerous complaints about the smell coming from a large commercial lagoon in northwestern Adams County. The Girod Lagoon opened in 2020 and accepts manure and other waste to be turned into fertilizer. However, recently the smell from the facility has gotten stronger and stronger. The problem is that county officials have no control over the facility, as the state handles that. The complaints though are still there.
WZBD’s Ed Thurman spoke with Commissioners President Stan Stoppenhagen about the issue and how the Commissioners hands are tied…
Stoppenhagen says the state chemist and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management are investigating, but haven’t said how long their investigation will take.
