Looking for their first NE8 win of the year, the Bellmont Braves looked unlikely to do so Tuesday at the difficult Eagle Glen course and the task looked almost impossible once the team had to play without their undisputed leader, Ella Hockemeyer, who was home sick.
They won it anyways!

An outstanding team performance gave the Braves a two-stroke victory, with freshman Ally Phegley stepping in to varsity play and scoring well enough to give Bellmont a much-needed win.

The victory, which was not just the first conference win, but the first triumph overall, could not have come at a better time, with the team poised to rival Norwell at home Thursday before traveling north to Warsaw to play 18 holes at Stonehenge.
