Two rivals like Adams Central and South Adams would not normally play each other in a doubleheader like they did Saturday, but this has been no normal spring and with both teams short on games heading into the sectional in two weeks, the Jets and the Starfires chose to play twice for the good of both teams. That decision certainly looked better from a Jet perspective when the final out was recorded as the visitors won both games by double digits and made themselves a little more confident for when they return to the same field in less than two weeks.

Keegan Bluhm homered and Ryan Tester had three hits, including a double, to lead the batting attack in the opener. The game was broken open in a seven-run seventh inning after Dakota Perry had kept the Stars in check, allowing just two hits and striking out seven in six innings of work. With a ten-run lead in hand, the Jets chose to throw Cade Van De Weg and he struck out two in the final inning to finish off the afternoon opener.

In the second game, Adams Central’s bats got going much earlier, plating four runs in both the second and the third innings and jumping out to a 10-0 lead.
The Starfires were facing their last at-bats when they manufactured a run around an AC error to not invoke the ten-run rule, sending the game the full seven innings.
The Jets scored four more times in the top of the seventh, with Lawson Deathe adding a two-run single as part of the effort.

Jack Hamilton, Trevor Currie, Dakota Perry and Keegan Bluhm each had two hits. Trevor Currie had a triple for one of his base hits and finished the second game with six RBI.
Ryan Tester pitched four clean innings and struck out seven for AC as the starter. Carson Ross and Trevor Currie each allowed one run in relief.
The Starfires used five different pitchers in the two games but none of them could solve the AC bats.

Adams Central will begin Monday’s resumed game at Heritage with the bases loaded and two outs in the second inning. Leadoff man Jack Hamilton was set to face Brady Richman when rain stopped the original game. That game can be heard live on 92.7 FM Monday.
The Starfires are now 8-10 and they will host Heritage Tuesday. That game will also be live on WZBD.
