The Heritage girls swept the top two spots in the shot put and put forth strong numbers in the discus to claim titles at the Tony Fey Throwers Showcase Saturday at Bluffton.
Maya Gerber won the shot put with her best throw of the season, beating her closest competitor (classmate and teammate Madilyn Scheumann) by nearly four feet. Maya had to settle for second in the discus because of a monster throw by Makenna Dommer of New Haven
Dommer was fourth in the shot and won the discus, meeting the state qualifying mark with her throw of 134′ 7″.
Adams Central’s Anna Thomas set a new PR for the Jets with her throw of 23′ 10.75″. She also set a new PR for herself in the discus.
