Jacob Roach hit his second home run of the night with the Bellmont Braves one out away from victory, shifting the Delta Eagles from 4-3 losers to 5-4 victors in a good game of high school baseball Monday night.
Roach led off the top of the second inning with a home run to left, then knocked in Zane Cline in the final inning to account for three of the team’s five runs.
Kaeb Stebbins opened the game on the mound for the Eagles, striking out three in two innings, but Delta used three different relievers to achieve the victory.
For the Braves, it was Layne LeMaster for the first four innings. He allowed nine hits, striking out four and was in line for the loss until Bellmont scored three times in the bottom of the fifth.
That Bellmont rally got started with a single by Gavin Krull and a sacrifice bunt by Andrew James. After Jack Scheumann walked, Beau Baker drove in Krull and put Scheumann in position to score on a sacrifice fly by Keagan Martin to tie the game.
Will Baker put the Braves in front with a two-out single.
The Braves put two runners on with two outs in the bottom of the seventh in an attempt to tie the game, but the game ended on a strikeout.
Bellmont will play New Haven at home on Tuesday.
