Two days after capturing the tourney crown at Garrett, the South Adams Starfires’ 13-game win streak came to a screeching halt with a barrage of early runs by the Parkway Panthers, who went on to win in six innings, 17-5.
Parkway scored ten runs in the first two innings and then added seven more in the fourth.
The Starfires needed to score five times in the bottom of the fifth to play a sixth inning, but could only manage two.
The Starfires only used their ace, Addie Baker, for four outs, electing to save her for more important games later in the week against Indiana foes.
Sofia Schwartz had two hits and a pair of runs batted in the losing effort.
