The Adams County Historical Society’s restoration effort of the library at the Dugan Museum in Decatur has been completed after approximately three weeks.
The society’s volunteers are now turning to restoring the museum’s lobby … when new funding can be secured.
Volunteers removed the wallpaper in the library – and some of the plaster came with it – in order to prepare it for Limberlost Construction Co. of Geneva.
Limberlost completed the work, skim-coating the walls and removing the popcorn ceiling.
Mark Baker did the painting work, including refurbishing the room’s fireplace.
The historical society also is in the process of having lead glass panels made to replace what was stolen over 30 years ago.
Previously, the exterior lead glass windows were replaced and will go in the vestibule. That project was aided by a grant from the Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF)
NEW MEMBER: Kathy Brown was recently approved to fill a vacant seat on the historical society’s board of director.
Brown is a lifetime member of the society.
“She has a strong desire to help preserve and honor our Adams County history,” the society said.
