PRESS RELEASE
The Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) is pleased to announce that Crossroads Community was awarded a grant recently for a benefit concert. Crossroads Community is a new non-profit organization that plans to raise funds to build, staff, and maintain a facility to provide housing for those in any stage of recovery whether it be homelessness, coming out of jail, or straight out of a treatment facility.
The benefit took place at the Berne Clock Tower to raise community awareness of how the drug epidemic impacts Adams County. The concert featured entertainment with Addison Agen, runner up on The Voice, and local artist Gabe Bailey. Food was available from D&D Fish & Tenderloin, as well as Sweet Creations food trucks out of Bluffton, IN.
Rene LeBlanc, Director of Crossroads Community, expressed appreciation to the ACCF for supporting the concert to raise awareness in the community for addiction and recovery services in Adams County. Andrew Briggs, ACCF Board member, added that he is happy be associated with the ACCF and to see this funding was used to support Crossroads Community’s efforts.
This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted fund sponsored by the Daniel Niblick Community Enrichment fund. The Daniel Niblick Family Fund was established in 2004. The long, respectable history of the Niblick family is recorded back to 1866 when Jesse Niblick and John Crawford purchased the landmark store in Decatur. Since 1930, Dan Niblick, with children Harold and Mildred, operated the store, referring typically to its shortened version as simply: Niblick’s. Best remembered by local residents, siblings Harold and Mildred Niblick operated the store until it closed January 1996.Â
