Adi Rumschlag led the Adams Central Jets Saturday at the Marion Cross Country Invite, but the Heritage Patriots used their depth to squeak past AC for ninth place in the team standings.

Rumschlag set a new personal best in the race, trimming 23 seconds from last week’s time. Teammate Haley Jauregui was a few spots behind Hailey Brune in 48th, but she still managed to cut nearly a full minute from her career Pr, which was also set last week at Taylor.

The Jets also got a PR from Nola Ortiz.
For the Patriots, it was a rather insane day in the context of the season so far. The top five runners for coach Matt Smith’s team all ran career bests, including a spectacular performance from his two aces – Emily High and Caelin Voglewede – who both ran 22:35s for career PRs. Voglewede cut 2:10 from the PR of her very short career so far.
Also running PRs for Heritage were Ava Gerber (shown below, earlier this year), Lily Hoting, Cortney Moake and Quinn Hissong.

Additionally, some of the Patriots’ JV runners turned in exceptional times in the context of their previous bests. For example, Kendra Rothgeb cut over five minutes and Madison High four minutes, while Rebecca McDaniel trimmed three minutes.
Dakota Brames and Quinn Hissong also had career bests for Heritage.

Adams Central had an outstanding day Saturday at the Marion Cross Country Invite, grabbing third place behind two small-school powerhouses (Wabash and Westview), with Tyler Schwartz turning in a career best to lead the way.
Schwartz, who had just lowered his career mark at the Taylor Opener back in August, went all the way down to 18:02.

The Jets also got career marks from Isaiah Bedwell, Trevor Chamberlain and Corbin Houk.
Heritage was led by freshman Julius Garrido in his first high school 5K. Will Voglewede, Brodey Landis and Luke Dillon also ran career bests for the Patriots.
