Bellmont freshman Emmett Glenn ran the first sub-17 5K for the Bellmont Braves in almost two years to finish 16th at the Manchester Invite Saturday, running alongside some of the best runners in the area to help the Braves to a sixth-place finish in a crowded 25-team field.
Coach Randy Hisner had not seen a Bellmont runner cross the finish line before the timer went to 17 since the NE8 meet back in October of 2024, when Hayden Whittenbarger ran a 16:58.
Glenn’s 16:47 was a personal best, obviously, and a glimpse of what is to come. After running in the rain at Norwell in the opening race at 18 minutes, Glenn has made a steady drop in each subsequent run.
Right behind Glenn in each race has been teammate and friend, Frank Heimann. Heimann has also cut his time in each race, setting a career mark in each race and he finished inside the Top 30 Saturday at Manchester.
Homestead dominated in the boys’ race with four of the top eight spots.
The Braves also got season bests from Hudson Krull, Landon Sielschott and Joe Kozlowski.

Girls’ Race
Sydney Angel led the Bellmont Braves with a season best time, cutting 17 seconds from her time in Celina a week prior to lead the Braves to an 18th-place finish in a 20-team field.
Freshman Elle Garcia cut 12 seconds from her career mark in a great race. Bridget Juengel also set a career mark.
Junior Savannah Lindsey showed great progress by cutting six minutes and 23 seconds from her previous 5K best in her first year in the sport.
