FLATROCK – Bellmont scored first in Friday’s sectional opener at Heritage, but it was the Patriots who scored 49 unanswered points and dominated the game thereafter, advancing to host Adams Central in the sectional semifinal next Friday.
Jax Litchfield scored three times and passed the 1000-yard mark for the season in the second half.
Chuck Faurote ended the night 31 for 49 for 325 yards passing.
The Braves had -17 yards rushing in yet another week with an empty backfield.
Lucas Taylor also scored three touchdowns for the Patriots, who were in total control after the first quarter.
The win advanced the Patriots to next week’s sectional semifinal round, where they will play again at home, but this time against an opponent in a much different situation – the Adams Central Flying Jets. Heritage lost to AC in Week 5, 14-7.
The Braves capitalized on an early Heritage turnover, moving downfield quickly with a big 50+ yard pass play to Cole Barger to get in scoring position. Charlie Faurote then hit Oliver Faurote for an eight-yard score and Bellmont had the home crowd stunned.
Heritage then proceeded to score on their next six possessions, dominating with the ground game.
Zeb Tigulis needed just two pass attempts. He completed both for 56 yards and a score.
The Patriots only needed 36 touches to rack up the 49 points. Jax Litchfield had 175 yards to lead the team, while Heritage only needed to give Lucas Taylor six touches.
Sawyer Thiele had 58 yards and a touchdown in the win.
