Brooklyn Green led the South Adams Starfires Tuesday in their first golf meet of the season, shooting a 48 in the Stars’ loss at Bridgewater to a tough DeKalb.
The Barons, one of the top teams in the NE8 conference (and northern Indiana, for that matter), were already in top form on their home course with a sparkling 164, taking the head-to-head opener easily.
Mollie Sonnaberg, who shot 94 and 95 at last year’s State Finals for the regional champion Barons, was the medalist at 39.

Green finished one stroke ahead of the new Starfire team member, Londyn Smith, who finished with a 49.

Coach Chris Toledo’s girls are back in action Wednesday morning on the more familiar grounds of Wabash Valley, where they’ll look to improve on Tuesday’s 217 on both sides of the course.
