The Festival De Hispanos will be returning to Decatur in September!
Victor and Carson Canales, father and son, were on hand at Tuesday night’s city council meeting to make a formal announcement.
The event will be held on the Madison St. Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 19 with expanded hours: 2-10 p.m.
This will be the third year the Canales family has brought the highly-popular festival to Decatur.
The event, which features Hispanic food and culture, has turned out large crowds in previous years.
Carson Canales is heading this year’s festival. “We are very excited,” he told council. “We have many things which will be going on.”
Victor Canales said there will be at least 10 food trucks, featuring cuisine from several nations.
One of the headline acts will be MariachiEco, an ensemble from Goshen. It is made up of students and community members, ages 11-22.
Diego Hernandez will return for another live musical performance.
A 3 p.m. parade will feature low riders (automobiles).
Johnny Tincap also will return, representing the Luchadore Manzanas!
“We are really excited about this,” said Victor Canales, a Decatur native who now resides in Wisconsin.
“We’ve had more than great support from the community,” Carson Canales said.
“We appreciate what you have done for us,” Victor Canales told council. We tell everyone what a great community this is.”
