Dinosaur raptors, Big Wheel races, Ariel and Tinkerbell visiting. Those will be just some of the features of this year’s Downtown Decatur Day, scheduled for this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Events will be held on and around the Madison St. Plaza as well as other areas of Second St.
Vendors will be operating along Second St. and food trucks will be serving up eats.
A $3 wristband will allow a youngster to enjoy all the fun, according to an announcement by Decatur Main Street, which organizes the annual event.
A Kids Kraft Market will be open from 10 a.m. until noon, and Razz ‘M Jazz Dance Studio will get the day rolling with a performance at 10 a.m.
Big Wheel Races ($5 entry fee) will be held for kids 3 to 6 years old starting at 10:30 a.m.
Ariel and Tinkerbell will be meeting young ones – and old ones, too – for an hour, starting at 11:30 a.m.
A dinosaur raptor show will be held from 1 to 1:30.
Dino rides will be available throughout the five hours, and the day will also offer face painting and an opportunity to dunk a teacher!
At 2 p.m., a drawing will be held to determine the winner of a 2024 E-Z Golf Cart valued at $10,000 which is being offered in a raffle sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
Tickets are $20 and only 1,000 will be sold, Chamber officials said. Tickets are available at the Chamber office on E. Monroe St., at Decatur Package Liquors, and from members of the Decatur Main Street board.
Proceeds will be turned over to Decatur Main Street.
Another golf cart event Saturday is the second annual golf cart parade. Carts may still be entered, at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Center, where the parade will begin at 11 a.m., concluding later in downtown.
The entry fee is $20.
Proceeds will support the Mayor’s Youth Council.
