Heritage advanced a pair of boys from Saturday’s sectional and they’ll represent the Patriots at next week’s regional.
Alex Smith lowered his career PR by a second and Julius Garrido continued to be a revelation to coach Matt Smith’s team, cutting 22 seconds from his PR to lead the team.
The cut line to advance was 19:01 for those not on the top five teams, and that left William Voglewede (19:50) and others on the outside looking in, despite a career best for Voglewede.
He was joined on the PR list for the Patriots by Brodey Landis and Luke Dillon.
For the girls, it was also two regional qualifiers, with Caeilin Voglewede and Emily High making their way across the line in time to survive.
Voglewede had the best race for the Patriots, setting a new career mark.
