The annual Stan Gilbert cross country event was held at Bluffton Saturday and the South Adams boys brought home the team crown, while the girls’ meet was won by Bluffton, who captured the top three individual spots.
Heritage narrowly missed out on second, finishing behind Bluffton by a single point in the boys’ race. They were led by Alex Smith, who was seventh.
Carson Laux of South Adams was second overall for the victorious Stars.
The course was a difficult one and neither Heritage nor the Starfires had a runner finish with a personal best.
There were just two PRs set in the girls race by Heritage or South Adams. Quinn Hissong and Dakota Brames both set new marks for coach Smith’s Patriots.
