Adams Central competed in the NikeTown Twilight Invitational at the state cross country course in Terre Haute, running under the lights against 99 other teams from across the Midwest.
Tyler Schwartz led the way for the boys, while Adi Rumschlag was the first across the line for the girls.
The Jets had not run in several weeks, but still had an outstanding showing. Schwartz was just eight seconds off the pace he set for his career mark in mid-September in Marion and Isaiah Bedwell was in the same boat.
Preston Hoffman set a new PR by 20 seconds and Trevor Chamberlain cut a full 30 seconds from his time.
Adams Central also got a new career mark by Corbin Houk, who went from a 21:24 at Marion three weeks ago to a 19:36 Saturday night.
Lexi Linder set a new career mark for the AC girls, cutting twelve seconds. Ava Powell was fifth for the Jets and she took nearly a minute off her career best.
The boys’ race was won by Francis Holohan, a top-40 finisher at last year’s state finals for Pike. Holohan ran 15:55 at last year’s state meet and won Saturday night with a 15:44.
In the girls’ race, Hailey Pardieck of New Pal (40th last year at State) was beaten by freshman Harper Green of Southwestern (Hanover) for the individual title.
