Six games into the season, the Bellmont Braves had already suffered a season’s worth of injuries, but when starting running back Jason Lykins, who also starts for the BHS D, went down in the second quarter with a broken collarbone, the team suddenly had to switch to a pass-heavy offense against New Haven. They ultimately lost the shootout of a game, 57-35, to the Bulldogs, who had 716 yards of offense and moved to 2-5 on the year with their 11th straight victory over Bellmont.

Note: No final stats or other information were provided by Bellmont for this game.

New Haven picked on the Bellmont secondary throughout the night with their talented receiving corps, as QB Ken McCraney threw for an astonishing total of 575 yards and eight touchdowns in the victory.
It was quite a reversal for McCraney & Co., who had only mustered five touchdowns in the entire six games of the season before Friday night.

Jacob Langford had 90 yards rushing and a touchdown, but it was the passing game that made the headlines.
McCraney was 34 of 51 on the night. Seniors Donald Gage and Ethan Wake both had ten receptions, with Gage taking four for scores and finishing with 230 yards. Wake caught two touchdown catches and had 163 yards.

Jaylan Doughty had two touchdowns and 87 yards.
The New Haven defense came up with eight tackles for loss and had three interceptions.
