Lucas Taylor and Jax Litchfield both ran for 100+ yards as the Heritage Patriots were all over Blackhawk Christian at Zollner Stadium, winning 48-13 in a non-conference Week 6 game, pushing their season record to 4-2.
“It was a good opportunity for us to play them in this situation,” said coach Hullinger of the final open date in the ACAC. The conference will not have an open date once Concordia Lutheran joins the conference in 2027 and the Cadets will presumably become the Week 6 opponent going forward.
Taylor had 110 yards on just eight attempts. He also had three catches for 25 yards, with one receiving touchdown and another on the ground.
Jax Litchfield needed just seven touches to get to 101 yards. He scored on three of the seven carries.
Coach Waslyk’s defense held the Braves to 55 yards rushing and 140 yards overall.
“Our tackling got a little sideways last night and we need to clean that up, but overall I thought it was a good defensive effort.”
Now, the team looks forward to a showdown on the road against unbeaten Bluffton.
“It’s what makes the ACAC so special. It’s the variety of teams and offenses, but there’s no mystery as to what we are going to see from Bluffton. They’re going to be balanced, running and throwing, and they’re going to be a huge challenge. That’s a great team and that Cooper Craig is built like a tank with a nose for the end zone.”
