BOYS SUMMARY
49 teams were involved in the boys’ race and it was quite an accomplishment to finish in the top ten. Bellmont freshman Emmett Glenn was just outside that mark, taking 11th overall, with buddy Frank Heimann just three seconds behind him with a new career mark.
Together, the two freshmen helped the Braves to a seventh-place finish in the giant meet.
Heimann’s previous career mark came at Manchester at the beginning of the month. He was 16 seconds faster and also the closest he had been to Glenn at the finish line all season long.
Bellmont also got a career mark from their third runner, Joe Kozlowski, with an 18:06.20. He was 18 seconds faster than the Manchester race and 2:46 faster than he ran as a freshman back in 2024.
The JV runners had an admirable day for coach Hisner, with career marks being set by (see below) Brock Scherry, Brandt Painter, Sebastian Heimann, Blake Metzger and Michael Penrod.
Alex Smith led the way for the Heritage Patriots, who had just the minimum five runners competing. Smith was just five seconds off his career pace.
Luke Dillion cut 43 seconds from his career mark for Heritage.
GIRLS SUMMARY
A 35-team field made it one of the biggest meets of the year for both Bellmont and Heritage, who had plenty of highlights despite the crowded field.
The Braves got a career race from their top runner, Bristol Scherry, who broke 23 minutes for the first time in her freshman season, going 22:50.50. Her previous career best was at Spencerville two weeks go (23:00.8).
The Braves also got an outstanding JV performance from MaKenna Rich, who cut 1:44 from her previous career mark.
Haylee Franz ran a season best to score for the Braves (24:22.20).
For Heritage, it was a career morning for Dakota Brames, who wiped nearly two minutes from her career best to finish in the scoring for coach Smith’s team.
The Patriots also got career marks from Audrey Meyer, Addison Smith and Madison High.
