“There’s a puddle in it.”
These words, spoken by BHS senior James Miller, summed up nearly every outdoor athletic event in Adams County over the past week. It also described the state of the No. 1 singles court at Bellmont after the weather changed Monday afternoon and brought cold, rainy weather to the area.

There was just enough rain for a puddle to form at the traditional spot of the top singles match for varsity, so Miller waited 20 minutes to take on Paul Dirksen. The two played a spirited opening set, but as his teammates were already advancing to a second set with wins of their own, Dirksen wrapped up the first set against Miller, 7-5. He went on to complete the victory in straight set to give the Patriots a 5-0 win.

The Braves are back in action Wednesday night at Columbia City in a return to NE8 play.
