It was a straightforward win for the Bellmont Braves in the NE8 opener as the team took a break from their brutal, grueling schedule for an easy three-set win over the visiting New Haven Bulldogs, 25-11, 25-18, 25-16.

The Braves’ ridiculous schedule may have many feeling somewhat down about this year’s team and their 5-13 record, but the state’s computer rankings confirm what coach Krull has done. The Braves have the #2 strength-of-schedule rating in the entire state.
Taylor Sutter led the team with ten kills. She also had five digs and even contributed three assists.
Belle Gumbel had six kills on just 13 attempts in the NE8 opener.
Gracie Riggs had 15 assists and Emie Krull led the team with 16.
It was two aces apiece for Chevelle Oetting, Brea Shoaf and Averie Coats.
The Braves will head to Ohio to take on a couple of schools from the Buckeye state – Centerville and Bishop Fenwick – Saturday.
