The Bluffton Tigers had a strong showing at Saturday’s Wildcat / Jackson Classic Invitational on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion and the Adams Central boys’ had a clean sweep of career PRs in their race to finish a solid sixth in a 22-team field.

Abigail Ramseyer won the small school (Grey) race by an impressive 33 seconds, finishing in 18:52.30 and Cora Kunkel was third for Bluffton.

Tyler Schwartz (pictured above) paced the AC boys with his second straight week of setting a new career mark. He broke the 18-minute mark and shaved 15.5 seconds off last week’s time. He set the tempo for the rest of the team, who all came across with their own personal bests.

Isaiah Bedwell cut 23 seconds and the trio of Preston Hoffman (38 seconds cut), Trevor Chamberlain (10 seconds), and Henry Michaels (56) all went under 19 minutes for the first time, finishing in a group at the finish line.

AC head coach Chris Terry noted that this was just the second time in the past eight years that the Jets have been able to get five guys over the finish line in a 5K under 19 minutes.

South Adams also had some fine performances, with Carson Laux running a career-best time and Ben Rupp and Jamison Patterson making big gains on their career times at the back of the SA lineup.

The Adams Central girls also had a good day, with the top runner on the team, Adi Rumschlag, setting a career mark of 21:27.00. The Jets also got new PRs from Haley Jauregui and Ava Powell in the race.
