The South Adams Starfires maintained their perfect season with an exciting, yet grueling match against rival Adams Central in the blazing heat Tuesday night, winning 3-2 with a sweep of the singles matches.
Griffin Hill’s victory in the third set over Jaiden Patterson made the difference.

The Jets dominated in the doubles matches and looked to be on their way to a potential upset when Patterson took the second set 6-4, but Hill bounced back and won the third with the same scoreline (7-5) as he won the first.

The Starfires’ top two singles players, Kade Sprunger and Cole Hyman both got better as the night went on. They dropped just one combined set in their second sets.

Despite the loss, Adams Central coach Brent Doster was awfully proud of his maturing team.
“I am beyond proud of the fight and heart shown tonight by a very young team that is finally beginning to find its voice before the whirlwind finish of the season.”

The two teams will head in much different directions later in the week, with South Adams set to go to Randolph Southern Thursday, while Adams Central will take on the tough challenge of the Carroll Chargers at home.
