KINGSLAND – The Bellmont Braves were on the front foot for much of the first half Tuesday night at Norwell, but a first-half goal by Riley Hank from a corner kick seemed to turn the tide in favor of the home team, who went on to secure a 4-0 conference victory.
The visitors, who are still looking for their first goal of the season after the opening three games, created all the chances early, with Romeo Antunes working the ball in the middle to forwards Taahir Ally and Jack Barton. Those chances, however, rarely challenged junior Norwell goalkeeper Brennen Fryback, who kept a clean sheet while making twelve saves.
Taking the 1-0 lead into halftime, Norwell quickly doubled their lead in the second half and were later awarded a penalty, which was swiftly taken by Eli Musselman for a 3-0 lead.
Freshman Blake Fuess scored the final goal on another corner kick for the final tally.
Jack Barton had four shots on target for the Braves, who just could not find the quality in finishing to get it past Fryback.
BHS goalie Grayson Riehm made seven saves.
The Braves are now 0-3 with two more hot contests scheduled this week with a game Wednesday at Woodlan and Thursday at Wayne.
