KINGSLAND – The Bi-County conditioner is one of those annual events that brings local high school runners together for a friendly competition, but there was nothing friendly about the running conditions for boys and girls alike at Norwell Tuesday night. The meet, which brings together the three high schools from Adams County and Wells County, was shortened in distance instead of being canceled, but it certainly still served as an extreme challenge of will and determination with the heat index in triple digits.
We’ll summarize the results of the girls’ race, followed by the boys’ (just like it happened at Norwell Tuesday evening).
GIRLS
Team standings in the event were based on the cumulative times of the top three pairs for each school. Norwell won with a combined time of 1:25:06, with Bluffton just ten seconds behind. Bellmont finished at 1:33:19 and Southern Wells was behind the Braves by 30 seconds.
Sophomore Sydney Angel and freshman Bristol Scherry (shown below) took eighth place for Bellmont.
The only entry for South Adams, featuring Adi Watson and Hadley Sprunger, finished a solid fourth.
Adams Central’s efforts (shown below) were led by the pair of Adi Rumschlag and Hailey Brune.

BOYS
Norwell won the boys’ meet and made it a clean sweep of the night for the home team, taking the team race comfortably with three of the top six pairs in the race.
The talented pair of Bellmont freshmen (Emmett Glenn and Frank Heimann) won the race by nine seconds.
