Conference play got underway in boys soccer in the NE8 in Decatur Thursday and it was a pair of goals in both halves that gave the visiting Columbia City Eagles a win over Bellmont.
The visitors had a leg up in most of the contest against the Braves, who had only played one complete game heading into the contest.
Junior goalkeeper Grayson Riehm turned away nine shots in the game.
Promising freshman Jack Barton used his pace to register the Braves’ only three shots.
The Bellmont team will face their annual tough stretch of games next week with three consecutive contests away from home at Norwell, Woodlan and Wayne.
