This year’s Bellmont Braves are going to give someone a heart attack.
Coach Craig Krull’s 2026 has team has played two matches against two local rivals so far this season and both matches have gone all the way down to the wire after the Braves won at Bishop Dwenger Tuesday night by a score of 17-25, 25-9, 25-12, 22-25, 15-13.
The Braves never stopped giving senior Taylor Sutter the chance to deliver a kill and in 49 attempts, she delivered 18 winning points for the visitors, leading the team in kills.
Junior Belle Gumbel continued her strong start to the season with a nine-kill night on just 20 attempts. She also had two blocks.
Gracie Riggs and Brea Shoaf each had two aces.
Riggs and Emie Krull each had 21 assists in their dual setter roles.

Bellmont won the junior varsity contest 25-19, 25-21, but dropped the freshman match 25-11, 19-25, 15-12. They’ll play at home versus Bishop Luers Thursday night to open the season in the Teepee.
