Adams Central, Bellmont and Heritage all competed in Friday’s boys-only track and field event, mixing in most of the traditional events with a future extra relays for a night of fun and competition.
Adams Central’s Braylen Cowans led the local contingent of athletes at Friday’s Heritage Relays by winning the discus with a new PR of 148-06. The distance was the longest of any local athlete not named Charlie Riddle in the last few years and just a few feet short of Trenton Hoffman’s throw back in 2023 at the State Finals.
Cowans’ previous career best had just been set against Bellmont at 145-09.
One of the highlights on the night for Heritage was Corban Roth, who took fifth in the 1600 with a season and career best.
Roth was the only runner in Z-Land to crack five minutes in the 1600, but Adams Central freshman Mason Manley joined him, going 4:50.88 and taking tenth place overall.
Bellmont’s 4×800 relay team also had a great performance, clocking the best time of any Adams County team and taking fourth place.
